Police Hire Three New Part-Time Special Constables

A few new faces are being added to the Timmins Police Service’s special constables unit.

The police services board is hiring three part-time special constables to fill a few empty positions. Typically there are three full-time and seven part-time special constables on staff.

Deputy Chief Henry Dacosta says special constables have various functions but typically work over at the court house transporting and overseeing prisoners, working within the courts and scene security at major crimes. Dacosta says Marguerite (Maggie) Poulin, Nicholas Oreskovich and Logan Ferrington will be joining the team. All three of the new hires graduated from the Police Foundations program at Northern College.

Dacosta says this unit is a great asset to the police service and he is excited to have these three new people join.
