MPP for Temiskaming-Cochrane, John Vanthof, is warning tax payers of a Disability Tax Credit Promoter called the Disability Benefit Group. Ad’s have been running in the North saying the group will help fill out disability claim forms, and offering returns of up to 40-thousand dollars. Vanthof says they take a large percentage of the return, 25 to 30-percent of the refund. He says this is unreasonable, when social services agencies will do the same thing for less than 30-dollars. Vanthof says these Tax Credit Promoters are trying to sign up new customers before new regulations come in 2015.
