Update: Highway 11 Open After Fatal Crash Near Mattice

UPDATE as of 9:00am:

Highway 11 shut between Kapuskasing and Hearst is now open after a fatal collision.  Listener Andrea Nolet told MyCochraneNow.Com around 12:00pm yesterday that there was a crash along Highway 11 near Mattice at Clear Lake Road.

Nolet says as she came upon the crash area where OPP had closed down the highway, she noticed a transport truck that had collided with a car.

OPP Media Officer Stephanie Belec says the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene after Hearst officers arrived shortly after 9:45am along with Emergency Medical Services.

Belec says Highway 11 between Hearst and Kapuskasing was closed for several hours while police completed their investigation.  The highway has now resumed normal operation.

Belec says at this time, OPP believe the transport was traveling westbound when it collided with a car headed eastbound.

A fatal crash on Highway 11 has shut down a section of the roadway between Kapuskasing and Hearst.

The Ministry of Transportation says Highway 11 remains closed as of this time in both directions around Clear Lake Road E as all lanes blocked.
