The Canadian Mining Expo starts tomorrow.

The McIntyre Arena will host over 400 indoor and outdoor exhibits on the mining industry, supply and exploration. Organizers say the annual event typically attracts thousand of people.

This year the event will host annual jackleg competitions, including the Northern mayor’s challenge, women’s novice division and the Northern king jacklegger. Winners of these competitions will receive cash prizes. The event will also feature workshops and a new career fair. The Far Northeast Training Board will be bringing over 800 students to the event to go over career opportunities within the industry. It will also be revealing the results of a mining sector employment and hiring forecast.

Opening ceremonies will start at 10:30am tomorrow morning. The expo will be open to the public tomorrow from 10:00am to 6:00pm and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Thursday. Admission is free.
