Schumacher elementary students are giving back to the community.
Students and staff who are part of the Schumacher Public School Champions Against Poverty are trying to make both the school and general community a better place for all. The group’s first initiative was to create personal care kits filled with items like socks, shampoo and toothbrushes for every family in the school. District School Board Ontario North East says the group received so many donations fro the community that it was able to donate kits to Project Love as well. Project Love says most of their donations come from children so it’s great to see a school group stepping up.
Schumacher Public School says the group’s next project will be collecting clothes, books and toys for students in need and their families. Donations for this project will be accepted until the end of the school year.
