Councillor Rick Dubeau will stand trial for his matters at the provincial court.
Dubeau is facing charges of corruption of a municipal office and breach of trust by a public officer for allegedly offering to act in a preferential manner to Goldcorp in his role as a city councillor in exchange for the company buying his home at a premium.
The case has been brought before the courts a few times since the charges were laid in October, but yesterday was the first time Dubeau appeared in court. The court heard from three witnesses, but there is a publication ban on the evidence heard.
Dubeau has asked to be tried by jury. His next court date is set for May 2nd.
