Steve Black has been elected

In one of the highest voter turnouts in years, Timmins has elected a new Mayor. 32 year old Steve Black will be replacing Tom Laughren in December, which is when he will be sworn in. Black says of the win, he felt good going into the night, but couldn’t have done it alone, and is thankful for all the residents who supported him throughout his campaign and voted for him last night. When asked what his first act as Mayor would be, Black only had one word “Sleep!”. He says it’s been a long couple months campaigning but he is looking forward to meeting with the new council to discuss ideas and goals.

New councillors:

Ward One: Andre Grzela
Ward Two: Walter Wawrzaszek
Ward Three: Joe Campbell
Ward Four: Pat Bamford
Ward Five: Noella Rinaldo, Andrew Marks, Michael Doody, and Rick Dubeau
