Halloween Safety

The OPP are making sure Halloween is safe for everyone. Drivers are being reminded to take extra caution on Friday night, as kids will be running around on and near streets. Stay off phones, stay sober, slow down, and keep an eye out for little ones darting onto the road. The Cochrane OPP will be on Pumpkin Patrol, which will have a decorated cruiser handing out candy to trick and treaters.

Safety tips from the Cochrane OPP:

• Prior to letting your children set out for a fun filled night of treat gathering, choose a route for them to follow.  Remind them of the basic traffic safety rules, to stay in well-lit areas, to always travel in groups, to never go inside homes or cars, and set a time for them to return home.
• All trick or treaters should use the sidewalks, keeping in mind to look both ways before crossing at intersections
• Be visible by wearing reflective clothing and carrying flashlights
• Parents should examine all treats before they are enjoyed by their children
