Timmins Students Host Spring Food Drive

Students and staff at Roland Michener Secondary School look to make Easter a little brighter for some families this year.

The school will be holding its annual spring food drive on Friday for the South Porcupine Food Bank. Organizer and Teacher Chris Clark says all the classes will be going door-to-door between 9:00am and noon of Friday to collect food throughout Porcupine and South Porcupine.

You are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items by leaving them outside your door if you don’t plan to be home, or bring food directly to the school.Clark says it’s important to collect food all year long to keep the shelves stocked.

He says this year’s goal is to collect more than last year’s total of 3,046 pounds of food and $222 in cash.
