The Timmins Lock It or Lose It campaign is now underway.
The Timmins Police Service says it will be inspecting vehicles around town to ensure they are locked and valuables are out of site. Communications Coordinator Kate Cantin says each vehicle they inspect will receive a tag either stating what was wrong or a congratulations for the good job.
Cantin says if you make things easier for thieves, it is more likely you will be targeted.
Cantin says you should remember to never leave your vehicle running while unattended, always lock your doors, keep all valuables out of site and park in a well lit area.
She adds that the campaign does run all year, but people tend to have more valuables in their vehicles around the holiday season.
