Impaired Driving Charges

Timmins Police laid seven impaired driving charges over the month of September. One charge came from a RIDE program at the beginning, while the rest were either because of traffic stops or because a call was received. Of those seven charges, one was Timmins Police officer David Starcevic. Starcevic had been demoted from Staff Sergeant to Sergeant for two months for an earlier incident involving improper gun storage and note taking.

Full press release regarding Starcevic from the Timmins Police Service:

On September 14, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police affected a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver. Upon speaking to the driver, police noted signs of impairment. Following an investigation, and after refusing to provide a breath sample, David Starcevic, 38, of Timmins was charged with impaired driving and fail/refuse to provide a breath sample.
