Goldcorp has put new blasting procedures into place. The changes came after a piece of flyrock hit an employee’s car in the Hollinger mine parking lot, and were outlined at a city council meeting this week. Steve Price, manager of the Hollinger project, presented the changes. He says all blasting was ceased for an investigation after the incident, which happened because the matting was not done as directed. They now have quality assurance checks at every step during, and a sign off process. There have been no incidents since.
