News Vic Fedeli comments on merit pay SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Wednesday, Oct. 1st, 2014 Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the Liberals say one thing but do the exact opposite. The Tory was reacting to the Liberals freezing public sector wages. But Fedeli says they replaced the wage freeze with a merit pay formula. He says they have not frozen wages, which is why a $12.5 billion deficit is forecast. Under the merit pay formula, public sector wages can increase three to five percent. Fedeli says last year the Liberals froze non-union wages but then awarded bonuses to 98 percent of the workers in this group.
