A 27-year-old Timmins man is facing multiple charges, including arson.

The Timmins Police Service says officers received a report of a stolen vehicle on Saturday night. Police say they found the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop when the driver fled from the officers. TPS say officers started a pursuit before it was discontinued for public safety.

Police say with help from the OPP, the vehicle was found set on fire in the area of Highway 655 and Guiho Road. TPS says the man was arrested and found to be in possession of a concealed weapon.

He is facing nine charges including vehicle theft, arson and flight from a peace officer. The man is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
