Bisson Claims Wynne Liberals Lack Of Funding To Blame For College Strike

The NDP is claiming that the Wynne Liberals have underfunded Ontario’s Colleges into the current strike.

According to Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, the Wynne Liberals are to blame for half a million students being kept out of class.

In order to make his case, Bisson points to the fact that the Ontario College system is the most underfunded in the country.

He says the province has to step up and take responsibility by putting more money on the table.

Liberal Cabinet Minister Brad Duguid says all the government can do at this current time is urge the two sides to go back to the bargaining table.

The strike began back on Monday, October 16th after an offer from the OPSEU bargaining team to increase the number of full-time faculty to match contract professors was rejected by the College Employer Council.

The strike has now entered its 10th day.
