EACOM is good with new height requirements of wooden buildings

The timber industry is reacting positively to a decision to increase the maximum height of wooden buildings to six storeys. EACOM,  which operates a sawmill in Timmins and in Nairn Centre near Espanola, says the change helps support the wood sector in the province.Prior to the Ontario Building Code amendment, wood could only be used in buildings up to four storeys. EACOM says wood is more affordable than other materials meaning buildings like condos and rental units also become more affordable.
