Building code amendment paves way for taller wooden buildings

Ontario can now erect wooden buildings up to six storeys tall. That’s up from the former four storey limit. The province is changing the Ontario Building Code clearing the way for the higher limit. Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli fought for the change for nearly three years through Private Member’s Bill he had to introduce twice. Fedeli says the change is good news for the north’s forest industry because more wood for new construction means more jobs.
