Online Voting will be available for this fall’s election

A new voting system will be available in Timmins for this falls municipal election. Voters can now go online to cast their vote in October. Stephen Beamish, an electronic voting expert from Dominion Voting, says it makes the process easier and more accessible. The online voting process begins when you get your voters card in the mail, which has a Voter ID on it that is used to log into the online voting system. There is then a two step registration process, the first step creates a log in for the website, and the second creates a PIN number specific to each voter, which is needed to cast your vote. You can then use your PIN to cast your vote for each contest (different wards, mayor, school boards). Voters can go online to register starting October 6th, or whenever your voter card comes in the mail, and the 10 day online voting period runs from October 14th to 27th.
