Timmins police warn about “hit man” scam

There’s a new e-mail scam and for some, fear could scare them into falling for it.  Timmins police have a report of a hit man sending e-mails to people saying he’ll kill them unless they pay him off.  However police say the hitman isn’t real.  It’s really a scammer looking for your personal financial information like credit card and bank account numbers.  The con artist may also try to get your passwords.  If you get an email with the subject line “Live or Die” you’ll know it’s from the phony assassin.   The advice from police is don’t pass on any information if you get this type of email.
