Pride week in Timmins is kicking off this morning with a rainbow flag raising. Opening Ceremonies start at City Hall at 11, and the city will be full of events all week, including a rally and Pride Parade on Saturday. Chair of the Pride Committee, Julie DeMarchi, says this event is meaningful for a lot of Timmins citizens. “People are still struggling with it, so this is why Pride is so important,” says DeMarchi. “You need to put it out there, you need to tell people that it’s a safe place.”
