Canadian Blood Services asking Timmins to help in a critical situation

Canadian Blood Services is pushing the city to donate this week. CBS has upgraded its need for blood to critical, because the national supply is around 6,000 units short of its minimum requirement. The goal is to collect 50,000 units by the end of June.

CBS says say half of all Canadians will need blood at some point in their life, but only four per cent of the population donates.

The clinic runs on Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, on Tuesday from 12:00pm to 2:30pm and then again from 4:00pm to 7:30, and on Wednesday from 10:30am to 3:30pm. There are still over 100 appointments available for the Wednesday drive. It’s at the St. Dominique Church Hall, and officials say they can arrange for transportation if needed. Go to blood.ca to book a time.
