News Kirkland Lake Drug Bust SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Thursday, Jul. 17th, 2014 The Kirkland Lake OPP and the South Porcupine Drug Unit have finished a seven month long under cover investigation in the Kirkland Lake area. 45 people were charged with 250 drug related crimes. The street value of the drugs found is about $150,000. The investigation finished with the execution of eight search warrants, and focused on disrupting a drug distribution network in the Kirkland Lake area. Cocaine, methamphetamine, marihuana, cannabis resin, and morphine was purchased and seized along with $12,500 cash and two vehicles. “This investigation sends a clear and strong message to criminal organizations that criminal activities, such as trafficking illegal drugs, will not be tolerated,” said Detective Inspector Chris Harkins, from the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau.
