News Fire Hydrant Flushing has Started SHARE ON: Mackenzie Read, contributor, Monday, Apr. 3rd, 2017 Photo Supplied by the City of Timmins Fire hydrant testing and flushing has started in Timmins. This is part of a maintenance program that makes sure the fire hydrants are working and collects water information for the Fire Department. The City of Timmins is warning that you may experience short term loss of water pressure or rust coloured water after the testing. The city says you should not drink or do laundry with the discoloured water. It adds that it is not harmful, but could discolour your clothes. Hydrant flushing should last about nine to 11 weeks.
