Today is a special day for the City of Timmins.

Today marks the 150th birthday of the city’s founder and namesake Noah Anthony Timmins.

Timmins was the president of the Hollinger Consolidated Gold Mines. During the 1920’s and 1930’s, Timmins played a major role in the Canadian mining development, most notably by bringing together the principals of Hollinger and Noranda mining companies to finance Noranda’s copper operation in northern Quebec.
