Flags are Lowered for Former Timmins Fire Chief

The flags at the City of Timmins buildings are flying at half mast to honour former Fire Chief Albert Schaffer, who passed away on Monday.

Mayor Steve Black says this is a man who dedicated his career to protecting the well-being of our citizens.

Schaffer was hired as a Firefighter in 1960 and worked his way up the ranks until finally serving as Fire Chief from 1985 until he retired in 1996.

Fire Chief Mike Pintar says Schaffer was an extraordinary person who had great pride in the community.
