A unanimous vote by Timmins City Council is endorsing a funding model change for the Cochrane and District Social Services Administrative Board.
A change in the funding formula could mean over one million dollars in savings for Timmins taxpayers. Mayor Steve Black says the new model would have each community in C-DSSAB Â paying for the amount of services it uses.
He adds that this is not a change in the amount of services each community receives, just strictly funding.
Black says this change needs a double majority vote from the C-DSSAB, meaning at least seven of the 12 municipalities needs to approve the change.
C-DSSAB communities have until March 16th to decide.
