OPP Officers Urge Snowmobilers to Ride Safely

The OPP and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs are urging snowmobilers to stop taking unnecessary risks.

This comes after another six people were recently killed in snowmobile crashes. That brings the total to 13 deaths so far this winter, five more than this time last year.

This includes an incident last week where an 11-year-old girl was killed when she was hit by a transport truck on Highway 11 near Iroquois falls.

The OPP says investigators are linking the deaths to things like riding on unsafe ice, speeding, alcohol and other poor decisions.
