Pedestrian Struck on Algonquin Boulevard

A 60-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing Algonquin Boulevard Tuesday night.

Timmins Police Service spokesperson Marc Depatie says the collision happened at about 8:30pm at the Mountjoy Street intersection. Depatie says the woman was crossing with the don’t walk signal on when she was struck. The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Depatie says that pedestrians need to be careful. He adds that true motor vehicle traffic safety is achievable when pedestrians and drivers work together to reach the goal of reaching their destination safely.

The woman has been deemed at fault and is being charged for disobeying the “don’t walk signal”.
