The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat has opened the worlds largest outdoor enclosure for polar bears. The five hectare enclosure is located on Hector Lake, just behind their main building. Facility Manager Karen Cummings says they believe that seeing the bears on the ice the way that they are supposed to be seen is far more educational than an indoor enclosure. Cummings says it’s also unbelievably touching and inspiring to see the bears on the ice because that’s who polar bears are. She says you can come check out the enclosure or view it on their webcam feeds.
