The Timmins Sears location will be permanently closing its doors July 23rd. The company will not be renewing its lease this year due to a lack of inventory to fill the store.
Sears Canada Spokesperson Vincent Power says the Timmins location is an outlet store that sells the surplus inventory from the Sears catalogue at a reduced price. Power says the company’s new inventory management systems have greatly reduced the number of surplus items for the outlet stores.
Power adds that the company will be maintaining a merchandise pick-up location in Timmins for online orders with the location to be announced in the near future.
He says the 62 employees be given a separation package and the option to transfer and re-locate providing positions in other stores become available.
