News Mayor Heads to Peru SHARE ON: Mackenzie Read, contributor, Monday, Jan. 30th, 2017 Timmins Mayor Steve Black is heading to Peru for a conference about mining in communities. Black says he will be joined by 12 other mayors from Canada selected by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. He says they will be discussing what mining means to the community and how we work and interact with the mines. Black says he will share stories about the Hollinger Open Pit and how the city works closely with the mining community. He adds that this is a three country mission between Canada, Columbia and Peru.
