Charlie Angus, the Timmins-James Bay M-P, says he is now in phase two of his potential campaign to lead the NDP. Angus say he is currently looking to build a national team of volunteers and start collecting donations. He says after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, it is necessary to build a national political movement in Canada. Currently the race to replace Tom Mulcair in October remains open, with BC MP Peter Julian being the only one formally registered with Elections Canada.
