Workplace Safety North has added new health and safety regulations to Ontario mines. The major changes are to do with to risk assessments, water and traffic management programs and the recording of seismic events. Mining Director at WSN Mike Parent says risk assessments are the building blocks for successful health and safety management systems. Some other safety requirements added this year are workers having to wear high visibility clothing and guards and emergency stopping devices needing to be added to conveyors.
