MPP for Timmins-James Bay Gilles Bisson agrees with the The Ontario Council of Hospital Union’s campaign for cleaner hospitals. The union recently issued a study stating hospitals don’t have enough cleaning staff to keep bed rails, mattresses, taps and door handles sterilized. Bisson says the union is right in saying we need more cleaning staff in healthcare facilities. He says cleaning a hospital is not just about making it look nice, but also making it function. Bisson states cleaning staff has had to be cut since the government has flat-lined hospital budgets. He adds if we truly believe in public healthcare, there is going to have to be some increase in funding to our hospitals and the rest of the system.
