Timmins City council has voted to put in a snowmobile trail through Hollinger Park. This trail will allow snowmobilers to cross the park to get to the Shell gas station. The trail will have snow fencing on either side, have a 20 kilometre speed limit and be wide enough to have two sleds drive side by side. Councillors had their safety concerns but Timmins Police Chief John Gauthier says he thinks this is the safest and most cost effective proposal for the time being. The Timmins Snowmobile Club will be in charge of grooming the trail. The trail should be up and running within the next few days.
