Public Works is Requesting Over $1-Million for New Equipment

Timmins public works is asking city council to pre-approve more than $1-million in fleet purchases, before the final budget has been approved. City Engineering Director Luc Duval says he only wants council to give him 70 per cent of the projected final budget so he can look at replacing 12 vehicles in the fleet. He says if public works waits for the final budget to be approved in March or April, it will be too late to start purchasing equipment and issuing tenders. Duval is waiting for councils approval.
