A report card given to Timmins city council by city administration says most of the recommendations contained in the public portion of the KPMG core services review have been acted on. The study that cost the city $105,000 lists several opportunities where the city could change practices or cut down on services to save money. The report given to council in October 2015 states that the city could save about $7-million a year. Chief Administrator Joe Torlone says 20 of the 32 opportunities have been implemented including some fee increases and having more quality of life events in the city. Torlone says it’s not possible yet to gauge how much money is being saved because a few more suggestions are still being tabled.
