Chambers of Commerce in Ontario Want to Defer the Cap and Trade Tax

Premier Kathleen Wynne is again being asked to defer the cap and trade tax that is set to hit consumers on January 1st. Chambers of Commerce around Ontario are repeating their requests to defer the implementation. Manager of Policy for the Timmins Chamber Nick Stewart says if the tax is put in effect, some businesses will see a natural gas increase of $6,700 a year. Stewart say under the cap and trade, some mining companies would also have to pay an extra $10-million in annual costs. The chambers are asking for the tax to be delayed until 2018 so the province can assess the impact it will have on businesses.
