Glencore Xstrata is out with its Sustainability Report. Highlights include a program called Safe Work where the company wants to change long-term attitudes and behavior on safety. Glencore tried the program as a pilot at five of its sites and now it’s being introduced at all its operations around the world. The report also talks about Zero Harm where the goal is to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries at Glencore mine sites. Another element in the report is the company’s ongoing talks over climate change as it strives to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Glencore will also address potential impacts its operations have on the communities it operates in because of their proximity to the sites.
