News Watch for fake charity raisers SHARE ON: Rocco Frangione, contributor, Thursday, Dec. 15th, 2016 Police have a warning about people going door-to-door claiming to be canvassing for various charities. In some cases they’re scammers who pocket the cash or cheque you gave them. Sudbury police are dealing with several of these complaints right now. Police say they tend to surface this time of year because Canadians are more giving during Christmas. Their advice is ask the canvasser questions and if they refuse to answer, close the door on them and call your local police.
