Some companies have started to match a $1,000 donation that Timmins Mayor Steve Black made toward a new Aquatic Centre. Black told the Moose that since announcing the donation and challenging others to match his contribution, some companies have done just that and others are considering it. Black says Request for Proposals for the facility aren`t due until early summer and that`s when the city would decide whether to pursue the project. But in the meantime he`d like an early start to fundraising, perhaps as early as January. Black also hopes that the chamber of commerce announces its support for the project at its next meeting.
