Thursday was an exciting day for Dakota Filion a 10-year-old student at Pinecrest Public School in Timmins. This morning the student was sworn in as chief for a day as part of police week. Dakota became chief after her essay won out over 72 other entries from grades 4 to 6 students on what it means to be a police officer. Dakota’s essay captured many aspects of policing and was also very well written.
