The number of car crashes at Riverside and Shirley is on the rise

So far this year, over 25 per cent of car crashes in Timmins happened at the Riverside and Shirley intersection; a higher number than all of last year. That’s according to the Timmins Police, who says that number is likely to go up even further before the year is over.

The crashes are happening most between 7:00am and 8:00am, and 3:00pm and 5:00pm in the afternoons. Distracted driving, speeding, and tailgating are all behind the spike in numbers.

Police will now be monitoring the intersection during peak hours, and drivers are being asked to take precaution.
