Timmins to do an erosion and drainage study for homes on Wallingford Road

Homeowners on Wallingford Road are asking the city to help with erosion and drainage issues. The homes back onto the Mattagami River, and there have been concerns raised about the safety of the homes.

Mayor Steve Black says the city is going to help, as it’s an issue all of council is concerned about. He says there is a lot of erosion happening along the river bed in front of the homes, to the point where there are concerns about the future stability of the homes. Because of this, council has agreed to do a drainage and erosion review of the area to determine what’s causing the problem.

Black says it will also help determine who is responsible for fixing which area. He says it will help to protect the homes and the shoreline. The city is now waiting on a cost for that study.
