Fedeli on Future Energy Contracts

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is clarifying last week’s news over the Wynne Liberals cancelling the signing of future wind and solar contracts.  Fedeli says it’s not a cancellation but a suspension meaning if the Liberals win another majority in 2018, they’re free to sign new deals.  Fedeli also says by suspending the future contracts the Liberals are talking about saving money on something they haven’t spent any money on.  He says this makes no sense at all.    The Tory MPP says it’s like him deciding not to buy a Ferrari and saving $500,000 by not making the purchase and then deciding not to buy a second Ferrari and saving a total of $1 million.

Fedeli says by suspending future contracts the Liberals have indirectly admitted that the high cost of solar and wind energy are why our hydro bills have skyrocketed.

Fedeli says there’s something else the public needs to know.   Fedeli says when the Liberals signed earlier energy contracts with 30 companies those deals added $9.2 billion to hydro costs.   He says records show that those same 30 companies donated $1.3 million to the Liberal Party.  Fedeli says the donations in return for getting energy contracts gives the appearance of a pay to play scheme.
