Hunting safety top of mind for the MNRF as the season is about to begin

As hunting season is just around the corner, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reminding hunters to be safe. The MNR says never carry a loaded firearm in your car, and always be aware of your target and what’s beyond it.

Northeastern Conservation Officer Dan Dufour, says there are a few essentials to carry, including your license, and a map or a GPS in case you get lost in the woods. He says the MNRF wants to make sure people are going into the bush, and enjoying the resources, but are able to come out and return home safely.

Dufour also notes there are no major changes in restrictions this year that residents need to be aware of this season. More hunting tips are on Hunting Ontario’s website.
