Northern College’s Indigenous Culture Awareness Week begins today

Northern College’s fourth annual Indigenous Culture Awareness Week kicks off today. The week-long event aims to educate staff, students, and the public about the local Indigenous cultures that Northern is a part of. Some of the activities include cultural teachings, film screenings, and arts-and-crafts.

President and CEO of Northern, Fred Gibbons, says this week has become an integral part of their annual student orientations. He says it brings the opportunity to celebrate the uniqueness and beauty that lies within the many nations. Gibbons also notes it allows the college to showcase its commitment to being the college of choice for Indigenous learners.
