James Bay OPP seeing a decrease in calls for service over the last month

During the month of August the James Bay Detachment of the OPP responded to 1075 calls for service. That number is down almost 100 compared to the month of July.

Staff Sergeant Baldassare Nuccio with the James Bay Detachment says fewer charges being laid is a result of good policing. Nuccio says the OPP deploys units to high traffic areas or what they call emerging hotspots. Noticing these trends in criminal activity can help ensure the officers are more efficient and proactive.

Nuccio says even though there was no specific trend in criminal activity, he notes that police deal with up to two domestic violence occurrences every day.

From July to August there was also a decrease in the amount of road safety and traffic enforcement throughout the James Bay Detachment area.
