Cost of autopsies might go up for Timmins Police

The Timmins Police Service Board might have to pay more out of pocket to get autopsies done. The Timmins Press reports board members met on Monday to discuss options on where to send bodies since there is a shortage of pathologists in the north. Autopsies are currently done in Sudbury, but the board says the city has a high case load and they need to find other locations. The paper states the board received a recommendation to have bodies flown to the Sault St. Marie or Toronto which could cost between $20,000 to $25,000 a year.
