Total outdoor watering ban to go into effect next week in Timmins

The city is going to be under a complete outdoor watering ban next week. It’s going to run from Wednesday, September 7th to Saturday, September 10th.  It’s in effect for all of Timmins, including Porcupine, South Porcupine, Mountjoy, Timmins, Schumacher, and McDonald Lake.

The ban will be in effect as construction is continuing on the water filtration plant. This stage of the work requires multiple shutdowns, which means the city has to keep some water in reserves, forcing the ban.

The ban includes lawn watering, car washing, and filling swimming pools. Hand watering plants and outdoor gardens is still permitted. Exemptions for watering new sod are available at the city’s engineering department.

The water parks will be closed, and the city says the ban will be strictly enforced.
